We, Yash Pal Sharma (retired Bank Officer) and Manu Sharma (College Lecturer)- a father and daughter duo, were living a satisfactory life. But yet we always felt heartbroken and touched whenever we came across people striving for their daily bread, caught up in vicious circle of poverty, struggling for better life and yet not finding a way out due to their family or social circumstances, non-availability of sources, less knowledge etc. Seeing this, the question – ‘CAN’T WE HELP THEM?’always troubled our minds.

When we saw a labourer sitting on roadside for selling his hand-made piece of art, shaped with a lot of effort, time and hard work but none offering them reasonable prices and found him agreeing to sell it at extremely low price as he had the tension of feeding his family that night. ‘CAN’T WE HELP THEM IN FINDING A MARKET FOR THEIR PRODUCTS?’,the question arose.

We tried to help a few out of our limited financial sources whenever and wherever we could, but found our efforts to be Only a small drop in the vast ocean of people’s sufferings. When we tried to help the unskilled ones by making them learn some good skills for better earning, we found them to be caught up in the endless loop of crippling poverty, scarcities and they always helplessly remarked-   ‘How will our families eat if we spend time in learning a skill instead of earning the little we are doing? We can’t even spare time for learning better skills.’
We were left even more devastated and shaken to the innermost core at this. But this became one of the deciding factors that we will do something substantial for such people.
